In this tutorial I’m going to show you the top WordPress plugins that I believe every website should have. You don’t have to have these exact plugins if you have something against one of them, but you should have a plugin with equivalent functionality.
The four plugins are:
1. Contact Form 7 (https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/contact-form-7/)
– this is a form building plugin
2. Yoast SEO (formerly WordPress SEO by Yoast) (https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/)
– this is a search engine optimization plugin
3. Google Analyticator (https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-analyticator/)
– a plugin that helps you implement Google Analytics
4. Wordfence (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordfence/)
– a WordPress hardening plugin
The functionality in these 4 plugins should be present in every website that you own, in my humble opinion.
You may have requirements for additional functionality for your specific niche, but not everyone will require that specialized functionality. However, everyone requires the functionality of these top WordPress plugins.
All of these essential WordPress plugins are free on self-hosted WordPress sites, but a couple do have premium versions for even more functionality. The free versions are usually enough though.

I used WP All in one security & firewall, but when I use scanners to do a site vulnerability check they say I have no firewall protection and many other issues I am not sure that has anything to do with. Is Wordfence better?

Great tutorial ! I have a question, I am using contact form 7. Do you Konw why emails do not get through . I think have to be something with my hosting (hostgator) because I have another web site using contact form 7 with a differnt host provider and works perfect. Please help !
