FTQ: Do I Have to Create “Custom” WordPress Themes from Scratch?
A phrase that gets tossed around in WordPress design and development circles is “custom website.” But given the range of development solutions, what does “custom” really mean? Are you only a “real” WordPress developer if you create “custom” sites yourself? Does every website have to developed from scratch to be considered custom? It’s a pretty confusing concept.
It seems to me that the term “custom” in WordPress development is kind of like the word “natural” at the grocery store. It has a certain implication, but it doesn’t refer to something very specific, and it can be used loosely depending on who you’re talking to. I’m not going to attempt to give a strict definition of it here. I will, however, describe the different levels of customization that are available for WordPress development.
