How to Setup and Install Digg Digg WordPress Plugin
Video Transcription
Hey, this is Brad from Firstsiteguide.com and in this video I’ll be showing you how to install and set up the Digg Digg social shares bar plugin. Let’s get right into it. The Digg Digg social shares plugin is a feature that shows visitors a floating social bar, on the right-hand side or left-hand side of your blog, on pages and post. It’s a popular feature that many top blogs use to help their posts reach more users by getting likes, comments and shares.
We’re going to start here in the WordPress dashboard and since it’s a plugin, we’re going to hover over the “Plugin” section on the left and then click on “Add new”. Okay, go up to the top right of this page and click on the “Search plugins” box, and what we’re going to type into this box is Digg Digg, both with two Gs and then press “Enter”.
Here’s the Digg Digg social shares plugin on the left here. Click on “Install now”, click “OK” to confirm, and then once this page loads up and it installs, click on “Activate plugin”. Now you’ll see the Digg Digg section here, over on the left-hand side. And in this section, you’ll be able to change some of the most common settings like adding in your Twitter username or Tweets, changing the location of the social shares bar and so on. However, the plugin usually comes straight out of the box pretty nicely. So let’s go ahead and open up our blog post to check it out.
I’m going to click “Refresh” and you see it loaded up there pretty dang nicely on the left-hand side. Here’s where visitors can read through our title and our blog post and then choose to Tweet it, like it on Facebook, share it on Google+ or even on LinkedIn. And that’s really all there is to it.
